Many people think that riding an electric bicycle is only for geeks and people who want to save money and prefer bicycles over cars. Well, think again, because many celebrities with tons of money have been seen riding electric bicycles. Celebrities have been known to be protective of their image and their reputation and this is clearly seen in their electric bike choices. Leonardo di Caprio is one of those celebrities. A photo of him was shot one day when was riding an Ultra-Motor electric bicycle. Leonardo di Caprio perhaps does not need any introduction. He is an American actor, environmental activist and film producer. DiCaprio started his career by appearing in TV commercials during the late 1980s. He had recurring roles in the sitcom Growing Pains and the soap opera Santa Barbara. His film career started with Critters 3 and gained public recognition with leading roles in The Basketball Diaries, Romeo and Juliet and who could ever forget the epic romance Titanic. Leonardo riding an A2B Ultra Motor is a perfect example of a good match between rider and bicycle. The electric bicycle is environment-friendly, unique and tidy in design and a bit heavy on the side.

Miley Cyrus is another celebrity seen to be riding an electric bicycle. She is popular for being the star of Hannah Montana. She was seen recently riding a Pedego electric bicycle in Los Angeles. She was going to a local coffee shop when she had a flat tire and the paparazzi jumped in right away. Pedego electric bikes have pleasant colors and designs and are perfectly suited to Miley Cyrus’ image. Miley Ray Cyrus, born Destiny Hope Cyrus is an American singer, songwriter and actress. After her minor roles in the TV series Doc as well as the film Big Fish during her childhood, she became a teen superstar because of her character Miley Stewart in the Disney Channel TV series Hannah Montana. She has been included on the Time 100 most influential people in 2008 and 2014 after her entries on the Billboard Hot 100.

Liev Schreiber and family, Naomi Watts with sons Samuel and Alexander have been on an electric bicycle. He is an American director, actor, producer and screenwriter. He is popular for playing the role of Sabretooth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He has also starred in films such as Ransom, Phantoms, The Sum of All Fears, The Omen, Taking Woodstock, Salt, Goon, Pawn Sacrifice and Spotlight. Schreiber is a respected stage actor and has performed in many Broadway productions. In 2005, he won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in the play Glengarry Glen Ross. That year, he made his debut film as director in Everything is Illuminated. Naomi Watts is an English film producer and actress. She debuted onscreen in the Australian drama film For Love Alone and then appeared in the Australian television series’ Hey Dad, Brides of Christ, Home and Away and the coming-of-age comedy-drama film Flirting. She also starred in the 2005 remake of King Kong. In 2002 , Watts was included in People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People. During 2006, she became an ambassador of goodwill for Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS which helps in raising the awareness of AIDS related issues. She has joined many fundraisers for the cause and she is presented as an inaugural member of AIDS Red Ribbon Awards.

Begley has had appearances in hundreds of films, stage performances and television shows. He is recognized most for his role as Dr. Victor Ehrlich, the mumbling surgical partner of Dr. Mark Craig, played by William Daniels, on the television series St. Elsewhere. For this tv series, he received six consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award nomination. He also co-hosted together with wife Rachelle Carson, the green living reality show Living with Ed. Begley has three children, a daughter and a son from his first marriage and a daughter from his current marriage. Ed Begley Jr. is a model of renewable energy production, sustainable living and recycling. Begley explained how he produces energy using a bicycle every morning to make his breakfast toast. With just 10 minutes of pedaling produces sufficient power, stored in the batteries for his solar power system so that the toaster is going to run.

The electric bicycle is a relatively new idea. In its simplest form, it is a battery-powered motorized bike that is operated either through a manual throttle on the handle bars or an automatic system which adds power when you pedal. Around 20 years ago, manufacturers started to offer the cheaper and lighter alternatives to motor scooters and mopeds. Frank Jamerson, an engineer who helped build the first nuclear submarines at Westinghouse and who later helped run the EV-1 electric vehicle program for General Motors, Jamerson started publishing the Electric Bikes World Report, a bi-annual assessment of the global market for electric bicycles, in 1995. Like then, China leads the way, says co-author and chairman, Ed Benjamin.
